Living in the WOW
Greetings!

Amy Grant sings that Christmas is "the most wonderful time of the year..." My experience is that it is also the busiest time of the year. There have been several years that I have spent this month on auto-pilot, only to stop in early January, look back and wonder where December went! But this year, despite my calendar, I am choosing to spend the month "in the WOW."
How will I do that?
By consciously choosing what I experience.
If you were with me on Sunday, you remember I gave the example of two trips to Costco. The first one found me dodging people parked crossways in the aisles, crowding around the free sample carts, with long lines in the check-out areas. The other one included a parking place two spaces away from the front of the store, little children oohing and ahhing at the Christmas decorations, and joyful conversation while waiting in line. All these things happened during the same trip! So I can look for, and find the good, or I can give in to the cranky. It is always my choice.
In the wonderful book The Trance of Scarcity, Victoria Castle reminds us that we don't get what we deserve, we don't get what we want, we get what we expect. I have decided to expect that there is more than enough time, money, patience and joy for me in December, just like there is the rest of the year.
The is the only Christmas 2011 that we will get. I invite you to join me in being present for all the presents--the gifts of peace, beauty, and joy that are there for us!
We were supposed to be feeling grateful last month--after all, it was Thanksgiving. But was that wonderful feeling gone by the time the dinner dishes were washed and put away, or were we able to keep it? And can we feel gratitude during experiences that we label less than ideal? Join guest speaker Dr. Pam Chapman this Sunday as she shares ideas on unconditional gratitude.
Sincerely,
Jerry Troyer
Tyler:
This makes me think of how exhausting this month has been. I have now gone 21 days without going to the gym, and because of the sheer chaos that has come from my Layaway/Site2Store job at walmart. The things that need to get done, and that dont get done, makes you feel like your spinning your tires for 8 hours a day. I guess you gotta just laugh about it. Happy Dec 2011.
